What will Yahoo target next?

The hot summer of mobile

Mobile has remained the hottest sector of digital marketing this summer. This week Yahoo purchased (and immediately shuttered) mobile technology firm Admovate, the latest in a number of mobile acquisitions that have captured the attention of digital marketers. The technology that Yahoo purchased will specifically support programmatic ad buying and address targeting issues in mobile.

This week did nothing to diminish the possibility (as suggested by AllthigsD) that Yahoo! could be interested in Foursquare. Marketers, for their part, continue to look at ways to reach users who are rarely more than three feet away from the phones. Marketing Profs published a timely list of six features that marketers need to consider if they wish to increase the temperature of their own mobile efforts via apps.
