Google grabs consumers by the wrist (video)

Android absolutely everywhere

Yesterday's Google I/O developer conference was all about Google's long range plan to have an Android (or Chrome) screen in view at all times. It is a work in progress but right now they see the mobile phone as the central screen that helps direct content to the home TV, the car and now the wrist. For the time being Chrome will control laptops and Android Auto will assume that a human is driving the car. Smart watches are getting a lot of attention and Slash Gear published a hands-on look with photos of the Motorola smart watch.

ReadWrite looked at the previewed features of the new Android “L” (Google lawyers are apparently still doing trademark research on sugary foods to select one that begins with an L to alphabetically follow KitKat). Screen shots of the revised mobile UI were provided by Business Insider. “L” will also try to become a screen for mobile business use by securely separating business from personal data (Google acquired a startup named Divide in May).
