Chat 2.0

Messaging apps have ruled 2016 so far and none have been more impressive than Snapchat, which is now the nearest thing to actual competition for Facebook. On Tuesday Snapchat announced a series of new features that it is calling Chat 2.0 and that reinforces its reputation as a service that understands its market. Users can now switch seamlessly between video, audio, text and, of course, stickers to enhance images. Buffer explained the new features and compared the user experience with those at other networks; BuzzFeed provided a quicker rundown. Ad Age broke out what marketers need to know about Chat 2.0.

Bloggers continue to be impressed with Snapchat's potential and the way that it is being reached. TechCrunch explained why “why Snapchat suddenly got a lot more important” and Bitly gathered five top influencers to offer Snapchat marketing advice.

Marketers are getting the message. Snapchat is testing innovative native advertising. Meanwhile, back at Facebook, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is using the Messenger app to provide boarding passes and bots will be able to provide ticket pricing and offer to keep in touch as travel day nears.
