News Feed ads are reaching saturation levels and Facebook is looking for new ways to monetize the world's largest social network. Yesterday, Facebook announced a number of changes designed to help users find local businesses, events and services based on the recommendations of their Friends. This is part of a new initiative by Facebook that includes the Oct 7 launch of a standalone Events app. Venture Beat published a good rundown of the features and objectives of Facebook recommendations, including an explanation from Facebook VP Andrew Bosworth stating that their goal was to streamline a process that frequently involves a number of apps.

Seamless integration will include, of course, the ability to buy and book purchases through a Facebook business Page. To accomplish this Facebook has added new features to those Pages. Many of the transactions will rely on third parties such as Eventbrite and delivery.com but users will also to communicate directly via new CTAs within Messenger.
