Twitter's custom profiles

Its news feed monetization has been an elusive goal but this week Twitter took a big step to improve its potential as a social media messaging platform. They announced custom profiles which allow businesses to identify the contact on the other end of a customer chat (whether person or bot). TechCrunch provided a walkthrough of how custom profiles will work and Adweek found a timely study showing positive results and mild frustrations from chatbots. Using Facebook as an example, Social Media Today published five reasons why messaging is important for businesses.

Instagram announced a major change yesterday by allowing multiple photos and images in one post. Pocket Lint provided the detail on how the new feature will work and Hootsuite listed five ways that a business can use the new feature. VentureBeat even noted the similarity to Instagram carousel ads.
